Career in Software Engineering - Perks and Challenges of Becoming a Coding Wizard
IIUC Telecom Club has organized a successful seminar on "Career in Software Engineering - Perks and Challenges of becoming a coding wizard" on November 13th, 2022.
The founder of IIUC Competitive Programming Society, Jamil As-Ad was invited as the speaker of the program. He is serving as a lecturer, Department of CSE, IIUC.
The seminar was hosted by Arif Alamgir, student of 7th semester and started with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Md. Asiber Rahman Asif, General Secretary of IIUC Telecom Club gave a welcome speech. He expressed his gratitude to the speaker of the seminar for giving his valuable time.
The vice president of the club, Dr. Saif Hannan (Assistant Professor), Engr. Mohammed Jashim Uddin (Associate Professor) and the treasurer of the club, Ahmad (Assistant Lecturer) expressed their feeling. They highlighted the importance and objective of the session in their speech.
The speaker discussed about the importance of achieving problem solving skills in order to shine in the arena of competitive programming.
With examples, he explained the types of problems and methods of solving them to illustrate the whole idea of problem solving.
The speaker later informed the audience of the current job market conditions and what skills and expertise were necessary to make a place for oneself in this sector.
Upon categorizing the job market in five categories, the three main categories of interest was explained to the participants and the audience were explained about the different skill sets and motivation that were needed for each of the categories.
Our honorable speaker discussed in detail about the challenges one shall face on the way of becoming a coding expert. He explained elaborately on how to overcome those hurdles and achieve the desired goal of becoming a 'Coding Wizard'.
There was a question-answer segment after the speaker’s lecture, where the students enthusiastically asked several queries and the speaker answered them pleasantly.
At the end, the president of the IIUC Telecom Club Engr. Abdul Gafur (Associate Professor, Dept. of ETE, IIUC) expressed his feelings. He thanked the guests and the speaker as well as the teachers, executives and all the students of ETE who participated in the seminar.
